The Ganjala pass is one of the most challenging passes in Nepal.This wedge in the Himalya is situated at an altitude of 5160m. Our Langtang trek takes you over this pass as you make your way south from Langtang village which lies at 3500m and where the national park headquarters is located. The route from Gyang in Helambu, require crossing the 5106m Ganja La. The pass is blocked by snow, so local inquiries about its condition , good equipment and mountaineering experience are necessary for safe crossing. The Helambu village excudes a Tibetan feel and you will see fields enclosed by stone walls as wellas herds of yaks, the most important animal for the people here. From Tarke Gyang, we descend to Melamchi Khola before climbing to Pati Bhyanjyang, then trek down to Sundarijal, from here we drive back to Kathmandu.

ITINERARY 14 Days

The langtang valley is inhabited by sherpas and Tibetan speaking people. located north of Kathmandu. The highest peak of Langtang Himal, Shisha Pangma (8013m) lies beyond the border on Tibetan territory. It was first climbed by the chinese in 1963.

Day 01: Approach from Kathmandu to Trisuli Bazar by Bus. Trial starts up wards to Betrawati for lunch. (1/2 hour) then start to Mani for night-camping.

Day 02: Early start to Ramche-Grang for lunch. Taking apposite direction to Dhunche (2000m) for camping.

Day 03: walk from Dhunche to the bridge up-wards to Bhargu (1900m) Traverse north wards high above the Trisuli, passing the Tamang Village of Murga to Syabrubensi (1500m) situated at the confluence of the Trisuli and the Langtang Khola

Day 04: from the Trisuli valley northwards the next village Mangal steeply to eastwards to Khangjung, Langtang Khola to Syarpa (2600m). Reach the valley bottom of Langtang Khola, Camp close to the river on a clearing in the forest.

Day 05: Through magnificent mountain forest and on Yak summer pasture to Lamgtang village (3500m) - Large Sherpa houses and Gompa; further to the summer settlement of Kyangjin (3900m). You will find a Gompa, Cheese - Dairy and an airstrip for small aircrafts. It is the starting point for all excursions in the upper Langtang area.

Day 06: From Tsergo-Ri (4950m) the pyra mid shaped mountain you will have seen on the north to Langtang village starting from Kyangjin easly climb to eastward along the main valley climb the slopes up to the yala summer pastures and continue to the summit of Tsergo Ri. From this high camp you may climb the yala Peak (5400m) and Kyangj in Ri (5600m)

Day 07: Early start is necessary in order to reach the other side of the pass (Ganja La) 5150m. From a high camp below the pass, it is possible to climb several other mountains (5000m).

Day 08: southwards keeping close to the ridge which forms the waters hed between Malemchi and the Indrawati Khola; Lunch on the Kekhung summer pastures. Continue southwards with several ups and downs as for as the Dupku summer pastures.

Day 09: walk to the big Chorten above Tarka Gyang (4200m) pasing 4350m for good view point. Continue along the ridge, steeply westwards to Tarke-Gyang (2600m)

Day 10: walk to the other side of the river to Sherpa Village with Gompa belong to China Lama (Lunch) Proceed to westwards through the forest comes Malemchi (2600m) the next permanently inhabited village in Helambu.

Day 11: walk from Melamchi down wards to the ridge and posses several forest to Kutumsang (2500m) another sherpa village.

Day 12: Passing through Gul Bhanjyang to chipling (2500m) to chisopani (Lunch) then to Pati-Bhanjyang (1850 m)

Day 13: walk to the down-wards to Burlang (2500m) to Mulkharka a Tamang village

Day 14: walk down to sundarijal situated at the northern edge of the Kathmandu valley. Take a Taxi or Bus to Kathmandu (1 1/2 hours).
