Jumla to Dolpo is perhaps the best way to get a taste
if remote Nepali country life. Arranged in the seasons
when the air is clear, the mountains are lovely, and
the dry plains heart-touching, this trek climbs up
to village which are possibly the highest natural
settelments of man. Mountains and monstries are found
in unlikely places, and the region still has followers
of the pre-Buddist Bompo relegion.
This region was opened up in 1989 to organised trekking
groups and to individual trekkers in 1990.
There are Tibetean style "Inner Dolpo"
villages in Tarap, but most of the southern part of
Dolpo is a region of Hindu influence.
The trek begins from Jumla, taking the trail route
via Garajankot, Bolanga Pass and assent to Bottom
Brga La (5180m) which is the higest point of trek.
We descend through Ringmo, Chepka down to Juphal,
where we carch the flight to Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.
