Annapurna Base Camp - Tent Peak

The distance between Pokhara known as Lake City of Nepal and Annapurna Peak is just 40 km. Annapurna was the first climbed peak by a French expeditionin 1950. The change of the landscape from Pokhara basin to the stone and ice desert of Gangapurna, Machapuchare (Fish-Tail) and Annapurna makes this trip so attractive.

Day 01: Take a taxi to the end of Pokhara Bazaar walk to the Tibetan Camp and Via Hyangja to Suikhet (1000m). Leave the Jomosom Trail and walk to northwards to the ridge. Continue westwards passing Gurung Village to the Camping place of Dhampus (1500m).

Day 02: walk westwards crossing a small pass, two side valleys continue westwards through Rhododendron forest above Bhichuk to Lamdrung to the Modi Khola bridge (1250m) Continue ascending steeply to Ghandrung a big Gurung village with good view of Annapurna.

Day 03: walk to the Kyungri Khola and the next ridge, steeply to the Kyumnu Khola and the opposite slope. Walk eastwards later north wards to Chhumro (2000m), the last village in the Modi Khola Valley. This days distance is short but has many ups and downs.

Day 04: Pass the Kuldi Gar huts, continue through dense forest and bamboo thicket with a few clearings which are used by shepherds while going up to the alp with their cattle. At 2900m you reach the rock shelter of Hinko. The famous camp of all the expeditions to the Annapurna basin.

Day 05: over a landslide to the upper opening Modi Khola, the edge of the Annapurna basin at 3600m Timberline and continue westwards infront of the southern side moraine of the great Annapurna glacier. Camp at 4000m, will have a good view of Annapurna at the confluence of the mains Modi Peak.

Day 06-08: Tent Peak (5663m) and Rocky Peak. At the western end of the moraine valley, bends off towards the Modi Peak and Patal Hinchuli. Down on the steep and rocky moraine to the glacier (Lakes) Cross the glacier in direction of a marked incision caused by a river in the left sidemoraine. Continue the up-wards towards Rocky Peak as fas as the snowline (4800m), just on the right of the rock of Rocky Peak for camping. The point where you can climb it easily from the mountain side.

Day 09-11: Return to Ghandrung the same way.

Day 12: Walk from Ghandrung or Kyummu - West wards and continue through dense forest to the Thante; (2500m) in the upper Bhurungdi Khola.

Day 13: walk to westwards to the Deorali and Modi Khola - Kali Gandaki watershed Crossing the Rhododendom forest to Ghorepani (2850m).

Day 14: from Ghorepani visit Pun-hill and lunch at Chittre to Lumle for camping
Day 15: Hille to Nayapul to Pokhara.
