The Climb

North-East Face and North Ridge

This is the standard route of ascent and the most obvious when looking at the mountain from Langtang Valley. Is is a classic snow and ice ridge.

From Kyangjin Gompa ascend the hillside towards the Ganje La via Branchen Kharka. (4,100 m). You will wind several places to put an intermediate camp.

Continue to follow the Ganji La track, climb steeply up the moraines to reach the eastern end of the prominent glacier beneath the North-East Face of Naya Kanga. (5,100 m) Cross the glacier and up by a shallow couloir leading to the North Ridge. The ridge leads to the summit, passing a small col.
